Synopsis
in a post-apocalyptic world, a young man goes after a group of cannibals who murdered his father and took the medicine his girlfriend needs to stay alive. My Thoughts
Honestly not really my thing, this movie, but it was fine. Serviceable. I'm sure this has its fans and it does its job well enough. I personally wasn't too invested in it, but it was engaging enough.
The most interesting feature to me is that this movie is entirely free of dialogue. Why this is, is never explained. They just don't talk, none of them do. At first I thought this might make me lose interest in the movie, but it still kept me engaged enough though not as much as I'd hoped.
I do appreciate this movie for its simplicity and how effective it is at that. Even if these characters don't talk and don't have very well-established personalities and likes and flaws, you still care about them and want them to succeed. Especially the young man (nameless, like all characters as far as I'm aware) you just care for pretty quickly after he loses his father to the cannibals and they steal his girlfriend's medicine. Simple setup, but it works. The young man wants to get his girlfriend's medicine back so she can survive, and maybe get revenge in the process.
I was a bit sad to see that the canines in the movie (dogs, not wolves) barely played a part despite being a huge part of the poster. They're kind of a plot device, but not much more. The dogs aren't really characters in this, they just come out once every while to act as either an obstacle to overcome or a handy tool to take down baddies.
I guess that this is overall a pretty decent movie, but it didn't do that much for me personally. I wish I could get more invested in it, but alas.
