My Thoughts

I have seen the first A Cry in the Wild movie and really ended up liking it. When I heard there was a sequel series I was positively surprised. This sequel trilogy is called White Wolves. Interestingly, this movie in question is both the main sequel to A Cry in the Wild, but also the first movie in the White Wolves trilogy. So it's both a sequel and a first installment, in a way.

But honestly, that weird way in which the series is ordered is the most interesting thing about this movie. Because the film itself was sadly very disappointing to me. I liked none of the characters, most of the teens are either boring and uninteresting, or unlikable, so I was attached to none of these characters. Brian (Mr. B) from the first movie (now a grownup and their team leader) is barely in the movie as he falls of a mountain early on and is mostly off-screen and injured/unconscious after that.

Because I wasn't invested in the characters, I also wasn't invested in their journey. I honestly was mentally checking out quite often while watching this movie because it just wasn't doing anything to hold my attention.

The movie's poster and title also feels a bit misleading because the white wolf in question is barely in the movie. As a huge wolf fan I was really looking forward to seeing lots of wolf footage, but honestly this wolf just makes a few brief appearances and that's it. Just feels a bit like false advertising.

So yeah, not a great movie. If I do ever watch the sequels in the White Wolves series, maybe they'll be better? But I don't know if I'll be watching those.
