My Thoughts

Full disclaimer: I never watched anything Addams Family-related before, not the movies or the series, so I legit have no context going into this.

I think that this movie is honestly proof that your flick can look ugly as sin and still be enjoyable. Is this a great movie? No. Good? Not really. But is it decent. Yeah, I'd say so. I enjoyed this the smallest of bits.

I liked the characters okay, the animation (NOT the character designs) was decent, the design of the environments was pretty solid. I also didn't hate the plot or anything (generic as it is). The friendship between Parker and Wednesday was also pretty enjoyable.

But those visuals man. I think I've rarely seen a movie that looks less appealing than this one. These character designs are...a lot, and not in a good way. I know that the Addams family is supposed to look a bit off and dark, but you can make an appealing character design while keeping these elements in mind. This is not that. These are terrible character designs, and it's not just limited to the Addams family. The side characters and villain look awful, too. So even if I enjoyed this movie a little bit, the visual look is a huge turnoff for me (and, judging by the reviews, most people).

I also thought that the villain was really underwhelming and lame. You can do so many unique things with villains and we got...annoying white lady who wants to sell houses. Big whoop. I hated the villain, and not in a "it's fun to hate them"-kinda way. Just in a "this is a terrible and forgettable character" way.

So yeah...not a great movie, not even good. But despite how ugly it looks and the lackluster villain...I kinda liked some elements of it.
