My Thoughts

Also known as Two by Two: Overboard!

I don't like the OG movie much, and yeah, honestly, this sequel isn't much better. But I do consider it a slight improvement over the first.

I liked the characters a little more this time around. Finny and Leah are pretty likable leads and their friendship feels genuine. I also like their parents quite a bit, as well as the new side characters we meet here. The villain gets a nice redemption arc, too. The only character I genuinely didn't like was the jellyfish, who was just annoying. And a bit weird how she considers Finny and Leah, two children, as her parents.

The animation (and visuals in general) have taken a slight step up from the original, at least if you ask me. I also find it funny that they really redesigned Leah to be cuter in this sequel, not sure why though because Finny's design stayed pretty much the same.

We meet a lot more Nestrians this time around, and it was interesting to explore their culture and these new characters. They're flawed, but also goodhearted overall. Even the main villain just has the motivation to protect her people fueled by her PTSD. So I guess I liked this look into the species. I do kinda wish we got more Grymps, though. It doesn't feel entirely fair that Finny and Dave get an entire clan of their kind, meanwhile Leah and Hazel seem to be the only Grymps.

But despite some okay elements, this movie is honestly still just not very good. There's unfunny jokes, the plot feels recycled partially from the first movie, the animation is okay but nothing standout. It's just a pretty bland movie, honestly. I'd say skip it, unless you really liked the OG.
