My Thoughts

This one gets bad reviews. And I don't really get it.

I honestly thought this was a solid film. Not perfect, but a nice 7/10 adventure. It looks nice, it has an interesting plot, the villain is pretty badass, and I liked the concept of how the zodiac warriors worked.

My favorite aspect will have to be the characters, though. Tom was a genuinely nice relatable protagonist, and I liked seeing his relationships to the characters around him. Among them is Hu, the tiger-shifter; Mistral, the dragoness; Sidney, the rat, and his friend Rav. The relationship with his grandmother is briefly featured, but it's a strong one as well.

If I do have a criticism, I guess it's that maybe there could've been a tad more focus on the mentor-apprentice relationship between Hu and Tom, since it isn't as big a focus of the movie as the title would make one suspect. But what we do get of their relationship is still solid. I just think it could've been more fleshed out.

So yeah, solid movie. I don't get the hate. Give it a watch.
