Synopsis
A wheelchair-bound teenager named Chloe starts to become suspicious of her mother, Diane, when she discovers that the mother has been messing with her medications. My Thoughts
This one was recommended to me by my mother ages ago. I've finally sat my ass down and watched it. And yeah, it was good!
I think the increasingly strained relationship between Chloe and Diane is the highlight here. Chloe is also a very likable and relatable character. You just root for her from the start. Diane is interesting, too, but also very evil and unhinged when push comes to shove.
The movie takes a bit to get going, but it gets really intense in the climax. I do have to say that, despite this movie being listed as a horror on IMDb, I found this to be more of a thriller. I was never at any point particularly scared of this movie. More so just scared for Chloe, but the movie itself isn't scary.
I do kinda wish this movie had some sort of epilogue where we see Chloe reunite with her birth parents, however. We know that Diane kidnapped her from her bio parents and wasn't a good mother to Chloe, so I think that Chloe deserved to reunite with the people she was stolen from. Especially since we know exactly who her parents are from the newspaper clipping. I just feel that the movie feels kinda incomplete without this type of scene? I kept waiting for it to happen but it never did. If they didn't want to create this expectation, I don't think they should've shown the newspaper clipping of the bio parents. It kinda felt like they were setting something up which never paid off.
Overall a good film, pretty intense, good characters. A solid thriller.
