Synopsis
My Thoughts
I was in the mood for a low-budget CGI movie, and this one is the one I chose. And boy is it...something.
It's not the worst movie I've ever seen or anything, but boy is it bad. It's just kind of all over the place and trying to do a lot of things at once and kinda failing miserably.
One thing that really stood out to me is the character designs. One: some of them are terrible uncanny valley nightmare fuel. Especially the birds with teeth or the mother leopard with her eerily human-like face. Second: quite a few of them look like they don't belong in the same universe. Especially that bear just looks so off to me, but this applies to some of the other designs as well.
The story has a solid base idea (try to convince the human president to stop the forest destruction while another animal wants to start a war) but the execution is all over the place with a wonky pace and just a lot going on at once.
I really think that this movie's worst crime, though, is being boring. I genuinely lost interest about thirty minutes in and while I kept watching, it never recaptured my interest. It was just so terribly boring and such a slog to get through. It was an agonizing experience.
The only mildly interesting thing about this movie is that there's a violent monkey who has guns. That was, well, something. Pretty much the only thing that really stood out. The rest is just rather mediocre and, like I said, boring.
Do not recommend this movie, it's not even fun in a "so bad it's good"-way. It's just bad. But also not the worst, I'll give it that.
