My Thoughts

I don't have a very strong attachment to classic Disney characters such as Mickey, Donald and Goofy, I gotta be honest. They're quite frankly some of my lesser favorite characters to come out of the studio. But the idea of this movie did seem somewhat interesting to me, so I gave it a watch.

It's honestly fine. I haven't seen a lot of the movies put out by Disneytoon (who did most of the 2000s-2010s Disney sequels and some others such as A Goofy Movie), but this is better than some of the Disney sequels by them I've watched. Not great, not even all that good, but it's far from bad.

I think this is mostly just a movie that's fun for a younger audience. It's not outright boring or anything to an older audience, but I didn't get a lot out of it and at times I think the movie really tries too hard to make the audience laugh (see unfunny over-the-top slapstick moment #21). Maybe that's part of the appeal for some viewers, but certainly not for me.

The movie also forces way too many romances in way too little time. Mickey and Minnie getting together was obvious, but Donald and Goofy did not need love interests, especially not since this is already such a short film leading to things feeling rushed and forced. I think they should've cut those romances and focused on improving the movie elsewhere.

Overall this is not a movie I'm angry at or even really dislike. It's fine, it's got some nice colorful animation and while simple it's an okay flick. Not my favorite, but I've seen worse.
