A series of tales pertaining to the sentient plush bear Winnie the Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood.
My Thoughts
Really? We're going back to package films? You were doing so well, Disney.
Honestly, I don't have much to say on this movie. It's just a combination of three segments with transitions added between each one so it (somewhat) resembles a whole movie. However, it's very obvious that these three segments were disjointed. There is no real plot, it's just random shit happening in the life of these living plushies and forest animals.
I don't think this warranted a movie release. At all. I don't hate any of these segments, but it just feels like they would've worked better as smaller clips rather than a full movie. The result is very disjointed and honestly nothing is really all that great about these.
I feel no attachment to any of these characters whatsoever. I don't like any of them, I don't want to see random goings-ons in their lives. I don't hate them, either, but with a no coherent plot whatsoever you really do have to care about the characters in order to care for this movie. Which I don't.
I also really dislike how nobody calls out Tigger on his bouncing. He constantly jumps onto others without announcing it and even destroys property, yet we're still supposed to feel sad for him when he can't bounce anymore? I was honestly rooting for Rabbit much more than the obnoxious destructive Tigger here, which is clearly not the intention.
I guess the one positive thing I can say about this movie is the aesthetics: this is the first Disney film in a while where I completely dig them. The animation is still somewhat sketchy, but it for once really works here because the backgrounds have this sketchy storybook drawing-type feel to them as well. I just really like the visuals here.
So, yeah, just a movie that doesn't warrant being one. They should've kept this one as shorts. But at least it looks nice, I guess.
