Synopsis
My Thoughts
I like wild boars, despite not drawing them often. I think they're both really cute-looking yet also really cool, with how huge they can get, their tusks and how aggressive they sometimes are. So about time I finally watched a documentary about them.
This documentary goes in depth on the yearly lifecycle about wild boars, from piglet to mature male or female, and of course their next offspring in this circle of life. It's filmed beautifully and gave quite a bit of information, including some things I did not know about. I also thought it was neat that we got to see various subspecies of wild boar, not just one single subspecies. They're somewhat different in looks and sometimes even tidbits of behavior, which is cool to highlight. They're not one uniform boar species.
My only complaint is that the title does not fit too much for the documentary. Yes, this technically is a comeback story as boars have persisted during being endlessly hunted (and still are sometimes), but honestly the documentary focused more on the life cycle and behavior of boars rather than the relation they have with humans. Which is a historically very rocky relationship and would be interesting to highlight, but it's just not really the main focus of the documentary as this one is just more about boar biology, behavior, etc. rather than their titular comeback. I'd honestly just have changed the title and this wouldn't even be an issue. Or kept the title and put more focus on the titular comeback of boars.
Overall still a good documentary with pretty shots and a lot of information, though!
