Synopsis
My Thoughts
Cute movie. Gonna keep this one short and sweet, because I don't have a whole lot to say here.
Yeah, this was just a solid film overall. Not spectacular or anything, but for what it is, it does its job really well. It handles the themes of friendship and family and community really well and is just overall a wholesome film.
If I do have a minor criticism, it's that the movie early on makes it clear that Pablo has no chances of surviving his tumor (they explicitly mention there being no cure), yet in the end he somehow does pull through, and it's never really explained why and how he survived. Not that I wanted him to die or anything, of course not, but I feel that they could've explained better how exactly he managed to survive his tumor when early on in the movie we're told there's no known cure and that he will die from it.
The bond between Pablo and Caramelo (the dog) is really sweet and I also enjoyed seeing the relationships he had with the various people around him. My favorite character was probably Leo, he was always a joy to watch.
This movie isn't anything all that complex or great or anything, but if you're simply looking for a compelling drama about a young man and the relationships he has with the characters around him, here you go, it's perfect for that.
